senior supply base manager
The Sr. Supply Base Manager is responsible for materials management activities in support of the development and production of OQO’s Ultra Mobile Personal Computer (UMPC) products. This individual manages the planning, purchasing and inventory control operations of OQO-owned materials. The Sr. Supply Base Manager plans and executes local builds of sub-components and assemblies in conjunction with the Engineering team in support of new product development.
responsibilities
- Manages the planning, procurement and utilization of OQO consigned production inventory including CPUs, chipsets, storage, COAs and other items as appropriate.
- Manages OQO’s local quick turn contract manufacturers including planning and executing development builds, while ensuring material availability, and optimizing build costs, timeliness, quality, and inventory exposure.
- Issues and manages purchase orders for consigned materials and local build services.
- Develops inventory control practices at OQO and our contract manufacturing partners. Institutes reporting and metrics practices to ensure all such inventory is visible to management, properly accounted for, and available as required to meet schedules.
- Understands the OQO Product Roadmap and develops an NPI Materials Support Strategy which ensures that the material and local contract manufacturing supply base are capable of meeting OQO new product development requirements.
- Works with OQO Engineering to ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Authorized Vendor Lists (AVLs) are timely, accurate, and communicated effectively in support of new product development builds.
- Drives quality improvements in the supply base.
- Frequent travel to contract manufacturers and supply chain partners (about 20%).
requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Business or Engineering (or equivalent experience); MBA desirable.
- 7-10 years experience in Materials, Procurement, or related disciplines in the electronics industry.
- Experience with mechanical parts and tooling.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing New Product Introduction builds and materials.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and cross-functional teamwork skills.
- Excellent communications skills with ability to influence all levels.
- High commitment, results oriented.
- Hands on experience with MRP and PDM systems.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
