CSCMP SFRT Recognizes SCM Excellence & Achievement at Annual Banquet Vanita Wells, Director of Customer Operations, OQO Named '2006 SCM Executive of the Year'
SAN FRANCISCO, CA –(MARKET WIRE), May 18, 2007 – At this week's Collaborative Banquet of Logistics Organizations, the San Francisco Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) presented the prestigious 'SCM Executive of the Year Award' to Vanita Wells, Director of Customer Operations for OQO, Inc.
Ms. Wells joined OQO in 2004, 6 months before the company shipped the first pocket PC product, and is a key member of the leadership team that developed OQO's unique virtual supply chain business model. Throughout 2006, Vanita expanded and led the logistics organization and channel partnership network. This leadership and direction has been instrumental to the success of OQO's critically acclaimed model 02. As Director of Customer Operations, she is responsible for all operational functions that touch the customer -- from product configuration, logistics, import/export compliance and fulfillment activity in Singapore, to post-sale service, tech support and customer satisfaction.
OQO's model 02 was featured in Bill Gates' showcase of Windows Vista at CES 2007 and was named 'Best of CES 2007' by Business 2.0, Laptop and Wired Magazines. In 2006, OQO ranked among Red Herring's Top 100 and received the PC Plus Performance Award.
Prior to joining OQO, Ms. Wells served in strategic operating positions at Handspring, Inmac, and Apple Computer. In addition, Ms. Wells founded and led Eclipse Group, Inc., the innovative supply chain professional services firm that helped drive industry's more comprehensive definition of 'supply chain management.' She won Silicon Valley's highly coveted Woman of Achievement Award, Entrepreneur, from the Women's Fund for her leadership and mentoring approach at Eclipse Group. Ms. Wells holds BS and MS degrees in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management from Stanford University.
