The future of global connectivity has arrived. Qualcomm's Gobi™ Global Mobile Internet is the first embedded multi-mode solution that supports both of the world's leading 3G cellular standards (EV-DO/HSPA). The OQO model 2+ incorporates a proprietary penta-band antenna for broad international coverage and is operable as an open-SIM device on GRPS/EDGE, UMTS, and HSPA. When traveling internationally, you can switch from one network to another by acquiring a new SIM card from a local carrier. As well, the OQO model 2+ can be used on both Sprint and Verizon wireless networks. A key benefit is that the 2+ with embedded Gobi is not locked to any particular carrier. You can change carriers at any time. Gobi can help streamline your asset management with a single global SKU that can be used with multiple carriers and geographies. Gobi modules are capable of speeds up to 7.2Mbps and upload speeds up to 2.0Mbps.

Standard on all model 2+ configurations is tri-mode WiFi (802.11a/b/g) with diversity antenna selection for improved performance. For personal area network connectivity, the model 2+ can be paired with other devices such as a keyboard, mouse, headset, and stereo headphones via Bluetooth. To manage all your wireless connections, access OQO's Wireless Dashboard software using the radio function shortcut on the OQO model 2+ keyboard.

Sliding up the 5" WVGA LCD of the model 2+ reveals a 58-key thumb keyboard and track stick. The EL backlit keyboard includes numberpad and SmartLock™ keys to enhance usability and functionality. With 18 keyboard shortcuts configured on the model 2+, you can quickly launch commonly used applications such as the OQO Wireless Dashboard. The model 2+ keyboard also features a track stick mouse pointer for precise cursor movement with your thumb and dedicated zoom keys for quickly changing screen magnification, supporting 1024x768 and 1000x600 interpolated modes.
60GB solid state drive
For increased durability and performance, the model 2+ is available with a 60GB solid state drive (SSD) option. Unlike hard disk drives with spinning platters and mechanical heads, a solid state drive is based on NAND flash memory with no moving parts. The SSD has a high operating shock tolerance of up to 1,500 G's, making it ideal for users in tough and extreme environments. In addition, model 2+ computers with solid state drives exhibit better performance and faster boot times.
